Project Description

This project was carried out and part funded under SEAI’s Better Energy Community Scheme 2014.

The objective was to provide a deep retrofit to both private and local authority, fuel poor and non-fuel poor homes in a RAPID area using an innovative pool of partnership resources. The partnership approach was successful in providing low-cost, low- maintenance energy upgrades to benefit a local community.

SE Systems installed a large scale deep retrofit and energy upgrades  to 4 no three storey apartment blocks. These buildings were 1960s constructed apartment blocks consisting of 36no mixed ownership units in Wolfe Tone Street, Northside, Cork City.

This project was hard to treat in relation to Energy Upgrades and would not be done without multiple parties coming together both on a community level and in contributing financially to the project.

The Wolfetone Street partnership approach is a template for RAPID Community Retrofits.

All apartments were occupied during the installation of works and were completed in an intensive 10 week programme with no Health and Safety or tenant Issues.

SE Systems were appointed as Main Contractor and PSCS to co-ordinate, survey and install the following energy upgrade measures.

External Wall Insulation | High Efficiency Boiler Upgrades with Heating Controls | Energy Efficient uPVC Windows upgrades | Energy Efficient uPVC Doors Upgrades | Attic Insulation including Ventilation | Low Energy Lighting | Drylining | Roofing Ventilation | Energy Advice
