Athlone Community Project


Project Summary
 
This project was carried out and part funded under SEAI’s Better Energy Communities (BEC) Scheme 2014.
 
The Athlone Better Energy Communities Project included energy efficient works to "Hard To Treat" and Fuel Poor homes. Deep retrofit upgrades were also  installed to Athlone Extrusion, Tulsk Heritage Centre, 22 Homes in Drumbane Birr, 39 Homes around Offaly, Roscommon & Laois, 18 Irish Wheelchair homes in Galway & Kilkenny.
 
The scope of the work for this project is as follows:
 
Cavity Wall Insulation | External Wall Insulation | Attic Insulation   | High Efficiency Boiler Upgrades with Zoned Heating Controls | Air Source Heat Pump | Magnicleanse | LED Lighting and Window upgrade |   Chimney Draught Stops | CFL Stoves
 
As Main Contractor for this Project, SE Systems carried out the following roles :
  1. Project Management
  2. Health and Safety Co-ordinator
  3. Appointment and Management of Sub-Contractors to include all trades
  4. Scheduling of Work Programmes and administration of weekly site meetings
  5. Co-ordination of Services
  6. Liaise with Tenants on a daily basis
  7. Quality Control of all Energy Upgrade Measures
  8. Maintenance of SEAI -  Technical and Quality Standards
  9. Issue of External Wall Insulation Warranties and Homeowner Aftercare manuals to Homeowners who receive External Wall Insulation 
 
A co-operative approach was taken by all project partners including SEAI, Offaly County Council, Birr Council, SSE Airtricity, RIDC and SE Systems.
