Project Summary
 
This project was carried out and part funded under SEAI’s Better Energy Communities (BEC) Scheme 2014.
 
Nineteen homes were identified by Irish Wheelchair Association suitable for energy upgrades of which 13 were located in Kilkenny and 6 in Galway.
 
The scope of the work for this project is as follows:
 
High Efficiency Quantum Storage Heaters | Cavity wall Insulation  | Attic insulation | Chimney Draught Stop | CFL Lighting | Building Energy Ratings | Energy Advice
 
As Main Contractor for this Project, SE Systems carried out the following roles:
 
  1. Project Supervisor Construction Stage.
  2.  Project Management.
  3.  Health and Safety Co-ordinator.
  4.  Appointment and Management of Sub-Contractors to include all trades.
  5.  Scheduling of Work Programmes and administration of weekly site meetings.
  6. Liaise with Tenants and Island Energy Committee on work schedules.
  7. Quality Control of all Energy Upgrade Measures.
  8. Maintenance of SEAI – Technical and Quality Standards.
  9. Issue of External Wall insulation Warranties and Homeowner Aftercare manuals to Homeowners who received External Wall Insulation.

The success of this project lies mainly in the innovative partnership approach taken with all project partners; SE Systems, Electric Ireland, NCE Insulation and SEAI.
