Project Summary

This project was carried out and part funded under SEAI’s Warmer Homes Areas Based Scheme 2014.

SE Systems installed large scale deep retrofit and energy upgrades to 4 no three storey apartment blocks. 1960s constructed apartment blocks consisting of 36no mixed ownership units.

This project was hard to treat in relation to Energy Upgrades and would not be done without multiple parties coming together both on a community level and in contributing financially to the project.

All apartments were occupied during the installation of works and the project works were completed in an intensive 10 week programme with no Health and Safety or Tenant Issues.

SE Systems were appointed as Main Contractor and PSCS to install the following energy upgrade measures.

External Wall Insulation | High Efficiency Boiler Upgrades with Heating Controls | Energy Efficient uPVC Windows Upgrades | Energy Efficient uPVC | Doors Upgrades | Attic Insulation Including Ventilation | Low Energy Lighting | Drylining | Roofing Ventilation  | Energy Advice

As Main Contractor for this Project, SE Systems carried out the following roles:

  1. Project Management.
  2. Health and Safety Co-ordinator.
  3. Appointment and Management of Sub-Contractors to include all trades.
  4. Scheduling of Work Programmes and administration of weekly site meetings.
  5. Co-ordination of Services.
  6. Liaise with Tenants on a daily basis.
  7. Quality Control of all Energy Upgrade Measures.
  8. Maintenance of SEAI - Technical and Quality Standards.
  9. Issue of External Wall Insulation Warranties and Homeowner Aftercare manuals to Homeowners who receive External Wall Insulation.
The success of this project lies mainly in the innovative partnership approach taken with all project partners; SE Systems, Cork City Council, Bord Gáis Energy, NCE Insulation, REIL and SEAI.
