Aran Islands Inis Mor & Inis Oirr


Project Summary
 
This project was carried out and part funded under SEAI’s Better Energy Area Based Scheme 2014.
 
SE Systems installed deep energy upgrades to 42 privately owned homes on Inis Mor and Inis Oirr of the Aran Islands off the coast of Galway. Seventy five percent of the homes are energy poor. This project represented an excellent area based approach to upgrading homes out of range of most commercial service providers. 
 
The project was completed successfully in 15 weeks.
 
The scope of the work for this project is as follows:
 
Cavity Wall Insulation | Attic Insulation | External Wall Insulation |  Internal Drylining | Oil Fired Boilers (convertible to biofuel) | Space Heating Stoves | Window & Door Upgrades | Solar Panel Installations | Building Energy Ratings | Energy Advice | Consultancy Services
 

As Main Contractor for this Project, SE Systems carried out the following roles:

  1. Project Supervisor Construction Stage.
  2.  Project Management.
  3.  Health and Safety Co-ordinator.
  4.  Appointment and Management of Sub-Contractors to include all trades.
  5.  Scheduling of Work Programmes and administration of weekly site meetings.
  6. Liaise with Tenants and Island Energy Committee on work schedules.
  7. Quality Control of all Energy Upgrade Measures.
  8. Maintenance of SEAI – Technical and Quality Standards.
  9. Issue of External Wall insulation Warranties and Homeowner Aftercare manuals to Homeowners who received External Wall Insulation.
The success of this project lies mainly in the innovative partnership approach taken with all project partners; SE Systems, NCE Insulation, SEAI, Bord Gáis Energy and First Class Insulation.
