Project Summary
 
This project was carried out and part funded under SEAI’s Better Energy Communities (BEC) Scheme 2014.
 
The Cork Communities project involved a partnership approach between SEAI, NCE Insulation, SE Systems and REIL to upgrade the energy efficiencies and building fabric upgrade of a variety of Social, Training & Educational and Community Organisations across Cork city and Rural Cork county.
 
SE Systems were appointed as Main Contractor and PSCS to co-ordinate, survey and install the following energy upgrade measures.
High Efficiency Boilers and Heating Controls | Installation of Low Energy Lighting | •External Wall  Insulation | Cavity Wall Insulation | Attic insulation
 
As Main Contractor for this Project, SE Systems carried out the following roles:
 
  1. Project Management.
  2. Health and Safety Co-ordinator.
  3. Appointment and Management of Sub-Contractors to include all trades.
  4. Scheduling of Work Programmes and administration of weekly site meetings.
  5. Co-ordination of Services.
  6. Liaise with Tenants on a daily basis.
  7. Quality Control of all Energy Upgrade Measures.
  8. Maintenance of SEAI -  Technical and Quality Standards.
  9. Issue of External Wall Insulation Warranties and Homeowner Aftercare manuals to Homeowners who receive External Wall Insulation. 
The success of this project was embedded in the innovative blend of parties, funding mechanisms, people and services. The facilities upgraded offer vital services to the Community.
